sunday filipino market in hyehwa

A couple weekends ago, I was finally able to go to the Filipino Market situated nearby Hyehwa Station (Line 4).  Ever since I came to Korea, I have been wanting to try it out but never had the opportunity. Having been to the Philippines last Christmas, I was really hoping to find the sweet, fried bananas on a stick...and so, as we made our way there, my mouth was watering with the prospect of such a savory treat!

ONLY OPEN ON SUNDAYS, the Hyehwa Filipino Market is located outside exit 1 of Hyehwa Station Line 4. Go out the exit and walk straight. The market will be set up along the street by the Hyehwa Catholic Church a few minutes' walk down the road. Starting in 1992, when a Filipino priest began holding Mass at the church, Filipinos have gathered to hear Mass in their native tongue. From there, they began holding the market which is open every Sunday.

The market is open from 9am-5pm and gets busier around 3pm when the church service ends.

You can find all kinds of things at the market: from electronics to speciality spices to meats and fruits and everything in between. In addition, the street food is an absolute MUST for your visit. Come hungry because so much amazing and delicious food lines the streets that you'll want to try a little of everything!
